Movement is a universal law
Everyone understands movement from the perspective of health.
If you move, you're more likely to be healthy. But I don't think most people understand that movement itself is a universal law for life. Movement is what sustains Life - in almost all its' forms.
One of nature's laws thus far is this - what happens on a micro level, exists on a macro level, no matter how big or small.
Let's use a concept we all accept.
We say Earth is in a solar system because it is predictable and continuous. It takes roughly one year for the Earth to orbit around the sun. It takes roughly 24 hours for the Earth to rotate completely on its axis.
In order for the sun to vitalise us, light must travel from where the sun is, through space, to us on Earth.
Now let's take this idea to a very micro, granular level. We have protons, neutrons and electrons. The electrons orbit the neutrons and protons in a predictable manner due to the polarising charges.
Is this not similar to the orbit of the planets around the sun?
On a macro galactic level, we observe the same patterns as on the microscopic, granular level.
In both examples, there is a law - movement of planets, and movement of particles, must exist for both ecosystems to survive. If our planet stopped moving, we die. If an electron stops moving around a proton, the proton would collapse in itself, and we also die.
Now that we're on the same page, my next point is - there is no reason why this Law of Nature doesn't exist on any other level in Life.
Let's use biology now. The human heart is beating approximately 60bpm, everyday, for the rest of our lives. In fact, it is when the heart stops beating that we die. Movement of the heart muscles is essential for our survival.
On a physical activity level, movement of the muscles are required to preserve them. Once we stop moving, our muscles begin to decay. This causes a multitude of problems, like diabetes, which is by definition, the inability of our blood sugar to MOVE into our cells. This causes obesity, which is again by definition, the excessive storage of fat mass (meaning there is not enough fat breakdown).
Again, we see that movement is a natural law that must be followed.
Now let's use an interpersonal relationship. The most obvious is that Life is created by movement. Sex, as an activity, requires movement. You must do the erotic dance with your partner to reach ejaculation. Ejaculation means Life becomes possible. A kiss, without movement, is tolerable at best. Creating Life requires movement. A thriving relationship is two individuals, attracting and repelling each other in perfect unison. Too much attraction and it collapses into itself. Too much repulsion and they never come together.
Next, let's move toward something more man-made, like business. This too, I believe, follows the Law of Movement, but in a metaphorical sense. A business grows when it reaches more people. It dies when it doesn't. A business that adapts and changes to the times thrives. A business that stagnates dies.
As a performance coach, one of the pillars I preach is having a consistent movement routine. Not only are we designed to move, but it's becoming clear to me that movement is a Universal Law in Life.
Movement is not simply something that you do just to 'keep healthy'. Movement is embedded deep within Nature's Laws.
From the macroscopic level of our planets revolving around the Sun,
To the interpersonal levels of love and relationships,
To the microscopic levels of electrons and protons,
Movement was, is, and always will be a Law in Life.
